At BapaHebatSG, we believe in the power of second chances — and few embody that better than our dedicated volunteer, Roje, also known as Ozzy in his workplace.

Roje's story is one of deep transformation. For over 30 years, he battled a cycle of incarceration — having been imprisoned 12 times due to drug-related offenses. But behind that past is a man who never stopped hoping to change, especially for the people who matter most: his children.

"After being in and out of prison so often, there came a moment when my youngest son didn’t even recognise me. That hit me hard."
That moment — when his child no longer knew who he was — became Roje’s turning point. It was the jolt he needed to start over, to become a better father and husband, and to rebuild a life grounded in purpose and contribution.
From Regret to Responsibility
Under the sponsorship of Agape Services, Roje earned his WSQ Diploma in Cleaning in January 2025. He now works full-time as a Property Maintenance Supervisor (S4) and is known for his diligence, discipline, and leadership. But Roje doesn’t stop at just showing up at work — he gives back meaningfully to others walking the same path he once did.
He volunteers actively with:
SANA (Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association)
YRSG (Yellow Ribbon Singapore)
Desistor Network (DN)
BapaHebatSG
Through these platforms, Roje shares his lived experience to encourage others towards healing, change, and fatherhood renewal.
A Father’s Commitment
Now, Roje’s greatest pride is not just his recovery — but being present. He hopes to continue working meaningfully at Agape Services until retirement, while also supporting his eldest child’s dream of joining the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
"Despite judgment about my past, I show up every day. Growth is always possible — with consistency, effort, and support."
Why We Celebrate Roje
At BapaHebatSG, we are honoured to walk this journey with Roje. His story is a powerful reminder that fatherhood is not defined by perfection, but by the courage to begin again.
To Roje, and to all fathers striving to rebuild, reconnect, and redefine their legacy — we see you, we honour you.
