Reflecting on "Ayah Sebagai Qudwah: Membina Peribadi Anak Melalui Teladan"
On the evening of 9 October 2026, Dewan Solat Masjid Muhajirin hosted a gathering of around 60 dedicated mothers and fathers for Forum Mutiara Ulama.

Organized in collaboration with BapaHebatSG and Jin Tai Secondary School Alumni, the event brought the community together to explore a vital topic: "Ayah Sebagai Qudwah: Membina Peribadi Anak Melalui Teladan" (Fathers as Role Models: Building a Child's Character Through Example).
The session featured insightful discussions by esteemed speakers Dr Abdul Kader Al Habsyi moderated with care by Ustaz Asyraaf Ahmad. Together, they highlighted how parental actions, faith, and patience form the bedrock of a thriving family unit.
Below is a detailed breakdown of the key lessons and takeaways shared during the forum.
1. Ayah Sebagai Qudwah (Fathers as Role Models)
The core message of the forum focused on the profound role fathers play as exemplars (qudwah) in their households. Building strong character in children requires active engagement, practical guidance, and a living demonstration of values.
* Leading by Example: Children learn more from what parents do than from what they say. They internalize moral standards, behavioral habits, and emotional responses by observing their fathers' daily actions.
* Actionable Guidance over Superficial Rules: Effective Islamic parenting moves beyond simply stating abstract rules or enforcing superficial doctrines. It requires hands-on, practical leadership where core virtues like integrity, empathy, and respect are visibly put into practice.
* Grounding in Islamic Values: A father's primary responsibility is to anchor his family in a solid moral and spiritual foundation. This provides children with a reliable internal compass to navigate societal challenges as they mature.
* Commitment to Continuous Education: Parenting is not a fixed goal post, but an ongoing journey. Fathers are encouraged to stay present, adapt, and continually educate themselves to meet their children's evolving needs across different life stages.
2. The Wisdom of Patience (Sabar)
Patience was framed not as passive endurance, but as an active, empowering path to personal peace and family stability.
* Trusting the Divine Process: True patience (sabar) means placing ultimate trust in Allah during times of difficulty, avoiding despair, and remaining steadfast in duty.
* Constant Gratitude: The speakers reminded attendees of the importance of maintaining gratitude under all conditions—embodying the spirit of "Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal" (Praise be to Allah in every situation).
3. Enduring Family Lineage and Faith
Drawing upon Qur'anic wisdom, specifically referencing Surah At-Tur (52:21), the speakers discussed how faith acts as the ultimate bond connecting generations.
* Connecting Generations Through Faith: True family success extends beyond worldly accomplishments. When parents fulfill their spiritual duties, they help ensure their family lineage remains united in faith, both in this life and in the Hereafter.
* Legacy of Righteousness: Parents were encouraged to view their daily efforts as an investment in a lasting spiritual legacy that benefits generations to come.
4. Compassion and Divine Mercy
The forum concluded with a moving reminder of Allah's infinite mercy and how divine love should reflect within the domestic sphere.
* Mirroring Compassion: The session drew parallels between maternal care, paternal responsibility, and the ultimate compassion modeled by the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
* A Loving Home Environment: By bringing warmth, gentleness, and mercy into the home, parents create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and connected to their faith.
Moving Forward Together
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr Abdul Kader Al Habsyi, Kiayi Syukran Makmun, Ustaz Asyraaf Ahmad, and all 60 parents who took time out of their busy evening to attend. Your commitment to growing as parents and spiritual leaders is an inspiration to our entire community.
May Allah bless our families, grant our fathers wisdom and strength in their role as qudwah, and raise our children to be righteous leaders of tomorrow.
