This Recognition Belongs to Every BapaHebatSG Volunteer.

On 24 July 2026, BapaHebatSG had the honour of attending the Singapore Prison Service Volunteer Awards Ceremony 2026 at Singapore EXPO.

The theme for the evening, “Stronger Together, Rebuilding Lives,” reflects closely the work that our volunteers have been quietly carrying out over the years.

While the recognition may be received in the name of BapaHebatSG, it does not belong to one person alone. It belongs to every volunteer who has contributed time, energy, ideas, encouragement and presence to our work with fathers and families.

A Recognition Built on Collective Effort

BapaHebatSG’s journey within the prison setting has never been the work of one individual.

It has been made possible by volunteers who stepped forward to facilitate programmes, guide reflections, prepare materials, support logistics, coordinate sessions and engage fathers with patience and respect.

Some served at the front of the room. Others worked quietly behind the scenes.

Some committed themselves over many sessions, while others stepped in at critical moments when additional support was needed. Every contribution helped BapaHebatSG grow, learn and strengthen its ability to serve fathers meaningfully.

This recognition is therefore a reflection of a collective effort.

It represents the many hours spent preparing for sessions, the conversations held after programmes, the adjustments made when things did not go according to plan and the commitment to continue improving so that every father receives the best possible support.

More Than Conducting Programmes

Working with incarcerated fathers is not simply about delivering lessons.

It is about creating a safe space where fathers can reflect honestly on their relationships, responsibilities, regrets, hopes and aspirations for their families.

It requires volunteers who are willing to listen without judgement, guide without imposing and encourage without giving false promises.

Our volunteers have helped fathers think about what it means to be present, even when they are physically separated from their children. They have encouraged fathers to take responsibility, rebuild trust and prepare themselves for the long journey of reconnecting with their families.

This is demanding work.

Progress is not always immediate or visible. Sometimes, the impact begins with a single reflection, a letter written to a child, an apology that a father has been afraid to make or a decision to respond differently when faced with difficulty.

Our volunteers continue because they believe that change is possible and that fathers should be given the opportunity to rebuild their lives and relationships.

To every BapaHebatSG volunteer who has supported our prison programmes, this recognition is dedicated to you.

To those who facilitated the Fathering Journey and Fathering BootCamp sessions.

To those who prepared activity sheets, reflection cards, letters, programme packs and training materials.

To those who arrived early, stayed late and travelled to support a session.

To those who mentored new facilitators, reviewed programme content and shared honest feedback so that we could do better.

To those who encouraged the team during difficult periods and continued to show up despite personal and professional commitments.

To those who believed in the mission before the organisation had reached where it is today.

You helped build BapaHebatSG’s credibility, capability and relationship with the Singapore Prison Service. Your service has allowed us to reach more fathers and contribute to their rehabilitation and reintegration journeys. We would not have reached this stage without you.

Stronger Partnerships, Stronger Families

We are deeply grateful to the Singapore Prison Service for its trust, partnership and continued support of volunteers and community organisations.

Rehabilitation cannot be achieved by institutions alone. It requires families, volunteers, professionals, community partners and society to work together.

When fathers are supported to change, families have a better opportunity to heal. When families are strengthened, children are given a stronger foundation. When individuals are successfully reintegrated, the wider community benefits.

This is why volunteer involvement matters.

Every session conducted, every father encouraged and every relationship rebuilt contributes to a larger effort to reduce cycles of hurt, disconnection and reoffending.

The Journey Continues

This recognition is an important milestone, but it is not the end of the journey.

There is still much work ahead.

BapaHebatSG will continue strengthening its programmes, developing facilitators, supporting volunteers and working closely with partners to help fathers become more responsible, emotionally present and positively involved in their children’s lives.

We will also continue reminding ourselves that recognition is not the reason we serve.

We serve because fathers matter.

We serve because children deserve meaningful relationships with their fathers.

We serve because families deserve opportunities to heal and rebuild.

And we serve because a person’s past should not permanently define his future.

To all our volunteers, thank you for walking this journey with us. Thank you for believing in the fathers we serve and in the possibility of change.
