Eight Fathers Step Forward: A New Chapter in the BapaHebatSG Fathering Journey

Eight Fathers Step Forward: A New Chapter in the BapaHebatSG Fathering Journey

On 8 March, something meaningful unfolded within the BapaHebatSG community. Eight committed fathers successfully completed the Fathering 101 Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Programme (aka ICAN TTT) , conducted by Edwin Choy.

More than just a training programme, the session marked an important step in strengthening our fathering movement — fathers learning not only to grow in their own parenting journeys, but also to guide and support other fathers.

From Participants to Facilitators

The Fathering 101 TTT programme was designed to equip volunteer fathers with the facilitation skills needed to deliver the Fathering 101 workshop within our programmes. Many of these programmes take place in challenging environments, including our work with fathers in the community and those preparing for reintegration with their families after incarceration.

Over the course of the training, the fathers explored facilitation techniques, questioning methods, and practical approaches to engaging participants in meaningful conversations about fatherhood. But the most powerful learning came from the shared experiences in the room — fathers learning from fathers.

Learning to Facilitate with Heart

Participants shared that one of the most valuable aspects of the training was learning how to ask meaningful questions that help fathers reflect on their role and responsibilities.

Others highlighted the importance of facilitation skills — guiding conversations, encouraging participation, and helping fathers discover their own insights rather than simply giving advice.

The feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed greater confidence in facilitating sessions and felt the training was highly relevant to their role as volunteer facilitators.

There were also helpful suggestions for improvement — such as incorporating more movement and interactive activities during training sessions to keep energy levels high. These insights will help us continue refining the programme.

Fathers Supporting Fathers

What makes this milestone special is that these eight individuals are not just volunteers — they are fathers who believe deeply in the importance of fatherhood. They have stepped forward to contribute their time, energy, and lived experience to support other fathers on their journeys.

This spirit of fathers supporting fathers lies at the heart of BapaHebatSG’s work.

A Growing Community of Impact

With the completion of this training, these eight fathers will now join our growing pool of volunteer facilitators who support our programmes such as Fathering 101, Fathering Bootcamp, and the Fathering Journey programmes conducted in partnership with community organisations and institutions. Their contribution will help us reach more fathers, strengthen families, and build a supportive fathering community.

A Proud Moment for BapaHebatSG

We are deeply proud of these eight fathers.

Their willingness to learn, their courage to step forward, and their commitment to serve other fathers reflect the very values that BapaHebatSG stands for — involvement, consistency, awareness, and nurturing.

To our eight newly trained facilitators:Thank you for stepping up. Your journey is only beginning.

Together, we continue building a stronger community of fathers — one conversation, one reflection, and one family at a time.

Real Fathers. Real Journeys. Real Love.
