This Sunday morning, our very own Jamsari Ahmad will be featured on the Doing Good Feeling Good segment, sharing the story and mission of BapaHebat SG. For those unfamiliar, BapaHebat SG is a non-profit committed to supporting fathers, strengthening families, and empowering communities. The interview will air live between 7.42am and 8.00am, and later be available as a podcast on meListen.

The Inspiration Behind BapaHebat SG
The journey began with a simple but profound question: Who is walking alongside fathers? While much attention often goes to mothers and children, the role of fathers is sometimes overlooked. BapaHebat SG was founded to fill that gap — recognising that when fathers are supported, entire families and communities thrive.
What Does “BapaHebat” Mean?
The name translates to “Awesome Dad”. But being an “awesome dad” isn’t about perfection. In the context of BapaHebat’s work, it means being present, intentional, and willing to grow alongside one’s children. For Jamsari and the team, it also carries a personal dimension: it’s about striving daily to be better husbands, fathers, and role models.
Why Fathers Matter
Research and lived experience show that a father’s presence has lasting impact. Children who experience active fathering enjoy stronger emotional wellbeing, higher confidence, and more positive life outcomes. But the benefits extend beyond families — fatherhood builds social capital, reduces risks of negative behaviour, and contributes to a healthier society.
As Jamsari will highlight, fatherhood is not just a private role, but a public good.
Transforming Lives Behind Bars
One of BapaHebat SG’s most powerful programmes takes place in correctional settings. The Fathering Journey equips incarcerated fathers with knowledge, skills, and hope to reconnect meaningfully with their children.
Through workshops, coaching, and guided reflections, fathers learn to rebuild trust, communicate with empathy, and prepare for reintegration. Many success stories have emerged: children regaining confidence when they see their fathers making an effort, and families finding healing through restored bonds.
These are not just rehabilitation efforts, but seeds of generational change.
Beyond Corrective to Preventive Work
BapaHebat SG doesn’t stop at correctional programmes. The organisation runs preventive initiatives such as Fathering 101, Boot Camps, and community forums like Teh Tarik with Dads. These create safe spaces for men to share struggles, learn from one another, and explore how to be present fathers in today’s complex world.
Preventive work is key: it helps fathers navigate challenges early, build confidence, and avoid breakdowns that might otherwise lead to bigger issues.

A Movement for Fathers
As Jamsari shares in the interview, the vision of BapaHebat SG is simple yet ambitious: to see more fathers become the anchors their families need. It’s about changing the narrative from fathers being absent or secondary, to fathers being central figures of love, guidance, and resilience.
The work continues — in prisons, in communities, and in homes across Singapore.

Because when fathers are strong, families are strong. And when families are strong, society flourishes.
